Prompt 4
Thanks to the Internet, people have more access to more information than at any other time in history. People can instantly find information on almost any topic in the time it takes to type a couple of words and click a mouse. But we often know so little about the source of this information, including its reliability and the qualifications of the person who wrote it. If we don't know its source, information is not so much good to us.
Assignment:
- Do people need to know the source of any information before they use it?
- Yes, people should know a little more about the source in which they are getting information from before they use it. If you want to get information online make sure that it is clear and up to date. - Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.
The Internet has tons and tons of information but is the information you get from the Internet reliable? Can you really trust the Internet? To get information from the Internet there is some guidelines to follow. You must make sure the information you are about to use is up to date and the website is clear.
I personally use the Internet for school projects. Sometimes I would much rather get information from a book, or movie, etc. For example, WikiPedia is pretty much likely not to trust. The reason why is that anybody can change the information on that website, they can either be wrong or write you never know who writes it. One must be sure to look at different websites with different information about the same topic and decide which one sounds more convincing to you. Take down notes and ask someone who you think has more knowledge about the topic you are researching. For example, if you are researching on a disease you can search it up on the Internet, record your notes and ask a Health teacher.
